Pearl of the Arabian Peninsula, Oman’s landscapes have attracted many travelers to its coastal towns and deserts in recent years in search of its unique culture and charms. However, the spread of Covid-19 has caused setbacks for the country’s burgeoning tourism sector, with travel within the country not being as easy as it once was. Here are all of the latest COVID-19 2021 entry requirements for Oman that all travelers should know before booking their trip.

Entry requirements for countries allowed to visit Oman for tourism

Entry requirements for COVID-19 testing

Travelers can travel to Oman with or without proof of a test, but those traveling without a prior test will be required to be tested upon arrival and quarantine themselves until they receive their result. In order to avoid quarantine, travelers should ensure they have a negative PCR test result with a QR code. This test will need to be uploaded to this website – along with proof of vaccination – in order to generate the travel registration form required to enter the country.

Those who choose to arrive with a PCR test must be tested within 72 hours of arrival, with this window being extended to 96 hours for flights lasting longer than 8 hours.

Quarantine entry requirements

Those who do not do a PCR test before traveling to Oman will have to take the test on arrival and will be placed in quarantine until a result is generated. Those who need to be quarantined will also be equipped with a bracelet. Once the negative result is obtained, they will be allowed to leave the quarantine and will have to go to the nearest hospital or health center to remove the bracelet. If the result is positive, travelers must self-quarantine for ten days.

Health form

Travelers do not need to complete a health form before traveling to Oman.

Entry requirements for COVID-19 travel insurance

All travelers to Oman are required to have international health insurance that will cover the cost of a minimum of one month of treatment for Covid-19 in the event of capture in the country.

COVID-19 Health Requirements While In Oman

The Omani government has said that public gatherings are not allowed and masks must be worn at all times in public spaces. Travelers will need to prove their immunization status to enter government and private sector offices, malls, restaurants and other business premises.

Entry requirements for the COVID-19 vaccine

Entry to Oman for foreign tourists is only possible for those who are fully vaccinated against Covid-19. In Oman, that means two doses of Pfizer BioNTech, Oxford Astrazeneca, Covishield AstraZeneca, Sputnik, Sinovac, Moderna and Sinopharm, or a single dose of Johnson & Johnson. The last dose must have been received at least fourteen (14) days before the estimated time of arrival.

Visa entry requirements for Oman during COVID-19

Typical visa rules are in effect as usual, although travelers are also required to complete and present their travel registration form in order to enter the country. Oman, however, has suspended inbound flights from South Africa, Namibia, Botswana, Zimbabwe, Lesotho, Eswatini and Mozambique. Travelers who have visited these seven countries in the past 14 days are also barred from entry.

Can Americans enter Oman?

Provided they have a completed travel registration form, Americans are permitted to enter Oman. American travelers are granted a visa waiver for 14 days.

Entry Requirements to Oman Covid-19:

Travelers must complete the travel registration form prior to entry. To do this, travelers will need:

  • A valid travel document
  • Debit card or credit card (for online payment)
  • A valid plane ticket (flight number required)
  • Vaccine certificate
  • Valid PCR test (For flights of 8 hours and more, the PCR will be valid for 96 hours. For flights less than 8 hours, the PCR will be valid for 72 hours.)

Registration for fully vaccinated travelers who take a pre-trip PCR test is free, while those who test on arrival will have to pay OMR 25 (~ $ 65) online. Travelers should keep an electronic or hard copy of the form when entering the country.
