Fuel pumps are now dry at gas stations on the M2 and M20 as motorists continue to panic to buy.
There are reports that no fuel is available on the M20 at Maidstone Services at Junction 8, for Leeds Castle.
Meanwhile, the diesel ran out at Medway services on the M2.
The shortage has an impact on those who travel in every direction.
It comes over the course of a day that has seen queues and delays around many forecourts and motorists lining up all night to refuel – causing headaches for many and fears among tourists that they could get stuck.
The problem was caused by the continuing shortage of truck drivers. The government has repeatedly assured motorists that there is no shortage of fuel and that they should not refuel unnecessarily.
But that hasn’t stopped desperate people from filling their tanks with reports of large queues around forecourts across the county all day.
There were huge queues around the Tesco supermarket in Ashford this morning, the BP forecourt on Canterbury Road, Margate, is running out of fuel and there have been delays around the gas station on the A2 at Sittingbourne.
The government is expected to announce a temporary visa program to address the shortage of truck drivers this weekend.
Sources in Downing Street said the program, which reports will temporarily lift visa restrictions on foreign drivers, will be a “short-term fix” to ease pressure on deliveries in the run-up to Christmas.
